Are there any animal species that can appreciate music and if so, what is it that separates them from other animals that can't?
I think the answer depends on how you define “appreciate” and “music”. If you mean human music, I doubt so. For instance you can take a look at this: “Monkeys don’t go for music - unless is made for them”. Anyway zoomusicology (or biomusicology) is a field scientists are studying.
